Practically read my mind there

...

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant.

Shoulda confirmed this earlier

I never wanted to buy VizBig edition manga. I would see them in the bookstore and think that I did not want those things on my bookshelf.

And that was the only reason that I didn't want to buy them: that they wouldn't fit well on my bookshelf. I thought that they were too big. I bought a copy of A Drunken Dream (published by Fantagraphics Books) and it's huge! It's not thick, but it's tall and wide. I think it's about the same size as a standard sheet of white paper. So that's... 8.5 by 11, I think.

Anyway, it doesn't fit well on my shelf. If I put it in the row with my other manga the doors on the bookshelf won't close, so I just put it across the top of my other books. And that annoys the hell outta me. And I wasn't sure exactly what size the VizBigs were compared to everything else on my shelf, so I didn't want to buy them.

But, I ended up buying the first Rurouni Kenshin VizBig edition anyway. In the end, there were more reasons for buying it than there were against buying it (one of them being that it would be cheaper in the long run) and I already had one weirdly stacked book so, why not?

It came in today, and it fits fine on the shelf, thank fuck.

It's actually about the same size as my copy of Little Butterfly Omnibus, which also fits on the shelf just fine.

So now I'm thinking of buying VizBig editions when I can. Although I think the only other series I buy that has VizBigs is InuYasha.
