A Very Sherlock New Year

I was super pumped on New Years Day for the airing of the newest Sherlock episode, A Scandal in Belgravia. Really pumped.

I was more excited for Sherlock than I was for Christmas (I REGRET NOTHING).

My tumblr dashboard was (and still very much is) full of Sherlock related fun, which included multiple reminders of when the new episode was airing live on the BBC iPlayer and how fans who don't live in the UK (like me) could watch it.

So here's what happened on Sunday.

I made sure that my computer was able to get the episode to stream live. I even checked it almost obsessively throughout the day to make sure it actually worked.

It did.

I was beyond excited.

When the time finally came for the episode to start, I sat as close as I comfortably could to our wireless router (to prevent losing the Internet connection, which happens all the fucking time on my laptop for whatever reason) with my laptop on my lap and the brower opened to the BBC iPlayer page.

I was a bit late getting to the show, but that was alright, I had only missed a few minutes at the most.

Then the show started and the opening scene was at the pool with Moriarty and I was all arm flapping in excitement for almost a full minute (damn near knocked my laptop off my lap too).

My excitement didn't last too long, however, when the live stream started to skip. The episode would play for a few seconds, then pause for a minute or so, then play again for another few seconds. This was insanely annoying, both because I was actually missing bits of the show and because it's generally annoying to watch something that's skipping on you (like that bit on my Whitechapel DVD, annoying as fuck and right in the middle of a car chase scene too, naturally).

And then it eventually stopped working all together, and I couldn't get it going again.

All those weeks waiting and preparing for this day were dashed then.

I was practically devastated. It's not often that I get this excited over something, but when I do, I really do. I know it was ridiculous to get into the mood I did (the I-need-to-have-murder-on-my-TV-now mood), but I did get into that mood. I also almost got to the point of crying, I was that put out.

A few hours later, after I had calmed down a bit, I went on tumblr. There I found links with the episode already out for download.

Excitement through the goddamn roof!

It took almost an hour and a half to download the episode, but I did. And I watched it right away.

And I fucking loved it!

So much fun watching this episode (except for the Christmas awkwardness, but I'll live), it was fucking amazing!

I love this show more and more every time I see it.

So that was how my New Years Day went.

The next episode, Hound of the Baskervilles, comes out Sunday. Hopefully I won't have to go through all that again, although I probably will.

Totally worth it though.
